This Alternator\/Generator engine, is basically an Early Shovel engine on the right side, with all generator and timer drive gears. Engines come with a special reverse ignition timer drive gear so they can be used with late, 70-99 style, ignition systems since these drive in the opposite direction. With its late Shovel left side crankcase the more modern and dependable 70-84 style alternator charging system can be used. If a generator is not used it is an excellent place to install a spin-on oil filter.
