The S&S Cycle 496 cam chest kit is meticulously engineered to optimize your motorcycle's engine efficiency and durability. At its core, the oil pump and cam plate are precision machined from high-grade billet aluminum, providing exceptional strength and dimensional stability under extreme conditions. This robust construction ensures consistent oil pressure and flow, crucial for high-performance applications. The innovative design features independent scavenge sections for both the flywheel cavity and cam chest, maximizing oil recovery and preventing oil starvation. Debris screens in both scavenge pickups, along with a magnet in the cam chest, actively prevent harmful particles from entering the oil pump, extending engine life. With increased oil flow capacity on both the feed and scavenge sides, this kit ensures optimal lubrication. The included 496 Series cam grind provides an intake lift of 0.485" and an exhaust lift of 0.485", coupled with an intake duration of 227° and exhaust duration of 243°, delivering a powerful and responsive engine feel. Installation is made easier with Quickee pushrods, and the adjustable pressure relief valve allows for fine-tuning even after the unit is installed. Paired with high-performance tappets designed for fast pump-up and superior high RPM performance, you'll experience reduced valve train noise from start-up to shut-down.
