Description

The S&S Cycle 509G Gear Drive Camshaft Kit is engineered to boost the performance of 88 CID engines with stock compression ratios. By replacing the stock chain drive with a gear drive, the kit significantly increases valve timing accuracy by eliminating timing chain lash. The reversed rear cam rotation provides additional operating clearance between cam lobes, allowing for higher cam lifts. Designed for strong performance from 1000-4500 rpm, this kit provides a noticeable improvement in power and throttle response. With 180 psi cranking compression (12.41 Bar in EU), compression releases are not required. These cams can also be bolted into 96"-106" '06 engines with stock valve springs, due to the lower lift.

• S&S recommends using an adjustable pushrod/cover kit.
• Cam bearings and gaskets must be replaced during installation.
• A hydraulic press and other professional-level tools are required for installation.
• Installer must check coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance.
• Due to the inherent characteristics of gear drives, you may experience more valve train noise.
